Jan Craig Faulkner, 86 of Bellaire, MI (formally of River Forest, IL) died March 29, 2023 surrounded by family.  He was born May 3, 1936, in Des Moines, IA, the son of John and Elizabeth (McClelland) Faulkner, brother to Kent Faulkner and Lynn Warboy, and husband to Leslie Faulkner.

Jan graduated Wentworth Military Academy and was in the Illinois National Guard. He graduated from the University of Iowa and went on to have a prosperous career. His career included commercial mortgage banking and real estate in the Chicago metropolitan area. He was founder and CEO of First City Mortgage Corporation, Chicago, IL and Real Estate Equity Corporation, River Forest, IL

Jan was a dedicated father, grandfather, uncle and friend. His greatest accomplishment, and what he was most proud of, were his children; James, Jeffery, Sharon, David and Kristen. What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family on Lake Bellaire, MI. He loved boating, riding his jet-ski, dancing, hosting parties and watching the sunset with his family. Jan was always the life of the party and his contagious positive attitude, advice giving, and outlook on life, will be missed by all of his family and friends.

Surviving are his children James Faulkner of Bellaire, MI, Jeffery Faulkner of Sebring, FL, Sharon Faulkner of Mill Valley, CA, , Kristen (Christopher) Ehrlich of Grand Haven, MI, brother Kent (Julie) Faulkner of Rapid City, IL, sister Lynn Faulkner of Bellaire, MI, grandchildren Andrea, Jennifer, James Jr (Jay), Alyssa, Gage and Vivien, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife Leslie Faulkner, son David Chittenden, and parents.

 Graveside services will take place in Lakeview Cemetery in Bellaire in the spring of 2023.
