James "Tim" Bunting

James "Tim" Bunting

James Timothy Bunting, known as “Tim” to most and “Pops” to many of those closest to him, had his life claimed by a fire in the early hours of November 27, 2021 at his residence in Central Lake, Michigan. Tim was born February 7, 1957 to James L. Bunting and Betty A. Omelia in Jackson, Michigan. He was 64 years old.

Tim was preceded in death by his father, James L. Bunting, mother, Betty A. Wood, and sister, Terri L. Bradshaw. He is survived by his children: Jessica Moore, Jenilee (Raymond) Whisler, and James “Toby” (Jodi) Bunting, as well as his sister Mary Abbott of Jackson and 12 grandchildren. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and many close friends. His step mother, Eveline Bunting of Boyne City, also passed between the time of his death and the publication of this obituary.

Tim was proud of the work he did, and retired from Lexamar in Boyne City. After retirement he found particular enjoyment in bird watching and feeding the birds that would come visit him and his cat, Smokey. Tim was an avid reader and always had stacks of books surrounding him. With his voracious appetite for reading came an accumulation of knowledge, and he loved sharing those facts with those around him, often inserting them into conversations whenever able. Tim loved listening to NPR and scheduled his day around listening to his favorite shows, his most favorite being Juke Joint.

If one wishes to help memorialize Tim, please consider a memorial contribution in his name to WCMU radio ( https://www.wcmu.org/donatelanding/ ).
