James D Lucas

James D. Lucas, 82 of Alden, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023 at home, surrounded by his loved ones.

James D. Lucas born on September 15th 1941 to James Lucas and Ruth (Moore) Lucas in Mancelona, Mi. Mancelona is where he grew up and had stories of a lifetime to share from. It is safe to say, he truly enjoyed his younger years.

James worked over 30 years for the Antrim County Road Commission where he retired from. He enjoyed many things, most of those being time with his family and long-time friends. If you knew James, or better known as Jimmy Dale, or God Father to some, you knew that he was a great friend to have. He was a man that was always there when needed and had a heart bigger than he would willingly admit. James was a very loved Husband, a cherished Father, an absolutely adored Papa and Grandpa and an excited Great Grandpa.

Not only did he enjoy time with his family and friends, but he also enjoyed yard work, his old country music, antique cars and antique car shows, camping and going to the races. If the Red Wings, Detroit Lions or Detroit Tigers were playing, you can bet he was watching! James lived a happy life and has always been surrounded by the ones he loves most. His humor and personality will never be forgotten and he will be cherished forever.

Surviving is his wife Georgann (Harrington) Lucas of Alden.  Also surviving are his children Ed Lucas of Conway, James (Katy) Lucas of Mancelona, Vicki (David) Hiser of Kewadin, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Preceding him in death are his first wife Shirley Lucas, son Jimmy Gibbs, 3 siblings, and parents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 21st at 11 a.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Dan Brothers officiating.  Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be given to the Antrim Community Church, PO BOX 315, Bellaire, MI 49615.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday, December 20th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. also at the funeral home and again on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

We would love it if people would wear in honor of Jim, Red Wings, Detroit Lions, or Detroit Tiger apparel to the funeral.

Luncheon after the funeral at Antrim Community Church 301 North Bridge Street Bellaire, Mi 49615
