Jack Blesma

Jack Blesma, 88, of Elk Rapids, passed away on April 25, 2024. He was born in Grand Rapids as the son of Ralph and Minnie (VanHattum) Blesma.

   Jack was an outdoorsman and enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and boating. He was a proud veteran who served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years. After leaving the Navy, he would go on to be a machinist at both Super Tool and Cone Drive.  Following his career as a machinist, he served his community as the Chief of Police in Elk Rapids for more than thirty years. Jack was bestowed the title of Michigan Harbor Master for contributing to the expansion of the Edward C. Grace Memorial Harbor during his time as harbormaster.  In addition, he volunteered with the Elk Rapids Ambulance and Fire Department.

   Jack is survived in death by two sons, Grant (Therese) Blesma of Elk Rapids, Bruce Blesma of Elk Rapids, sister-in-law Barbara Blesma of Howell MI, four grandchildren, Trevor Blesma, Hunter Blesma, Jackson Hawke and Tiia Sinke.

   Preceding him in death is his loving wife, Rosanne, his parents, daughter Jackie, one brother, Ralph Jr.

   No services will be held post cremation. 

 If so moved, donations of time and or treasure to a charity of your choosing in memory of Jack are welcomed.
