HELEN C. WEEMAN 84, of Bellaire and Traverse City, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006. Helen achieved her wish of returning to her family and dear friends at Traverse Manor in Traverse City and passed peacefully with her loving family by her side. She was born October 6, 1922 in Marine City, the daughter of John and Alma (Englehart) Hunger. Helen came to Bellaire in April of 1946 as the bride of John Weeman. She quickly mastered the role of farm wife bringing it to a new level of elegance. She began a new legacy of hospitality that lives on in all those she touched and especially in her children and grand daughters. Helen graduated from Fordson High School in Dearborn and was employed by Chatham Stores in the Detroit area as Sales Associate in charge of health and beauty aids. She was a member of the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church and a long time volunteer for the Bellaire Historical Society. She was preceded in death by an infant son David Ross. She leaves behind her loving husband John R., four children, Laurie Jo (Max) Raymond of Rapid City, John R. Jr. of Dallas and Bellaire, Jan (Andy) Andretich of Beecher, IL, Sandy (Richard) Ewasek of Livonia, five siblings, Carl Engles of Marine City, Jack (Gail) Hunger of Sylvan Lake, Pat (Charlie) Morningstar of Livonia, Linda (Bill) Brzuchanski of Milford, Nancy (Jerry) Burdick of Milford, four grand daughters, Jenny Andretich, Julia Anne Weeman, Andrea and Laurie Ewasek, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006 at Eleven a.m. at the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mary Brown officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
