Helen Schuiteman

Helen Ardis (Allen) Schuiteman, lovingly known as 'Boots' to some, passed away May 11, 2025 with family by her side. Born April 4, 1933 in Richfield Twp. Genesee Co. Michigan to the late William C. Allen and Maude H. (Hitchcock) Allen. She married Donald E. Schuiteman in 1954. Helen graduated from Standish High School. She attended Hurley School of Nursing in Flint, Michigan graduating with a Registered Nursing degree in 1954.

Because of her husband's work in the Michigan State Police Helen lived in many towns during her married life. She used her nursing degree in various nursing positions. She was a friend to many, always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and colleges.

Helen enjoyed her yard and flower beds. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining friends and family, sewing, many types of handiwork and working as a registered nurse. Most of all her children and family were her pride and love of life.

Helen was a loving mother and grandmother to three children Judy (Harry) Sutton of Gaylord, Jay (Deb) Schuiteman of Grand Lake, MI, and Lynn (Tim) Werner of Ironwood, MI, eight grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers, one sister, one granddaughter and two great-granddaughters.

Helen will be laid to rest with her husband, Don, at Fairview Cemetery, Custer Township, in the summer of 2025.
