HARRY J. STEINER 93, of Rochester Hills, formerly of Bellaire, died Sunday, January 27, 2008 at home. Harry was born January 20, 1915 in Bellaire, the son of Jacob and Bertha (Weeman) Steiner. He resided in the Bellaire area most of his life before moving to Rochester Hills in 2005. Harry was a 1932 graduate of Bellaire High School and served his country for three years in the US Army Air Corp where he was an aircraft mechanic. After his discharge he continued mechanic work as owner and operator of Steiner's Garage on Torch Lake Drive for many years before retiring in 1982. Prior to his moving from Bellaire, he was the oldest living member of the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church. Harry was a fine woodworker and gardener and well known for his integrity and skill as a mechanic. On Sept. 21, 1940 he married Sophia M. Walter who survives. Also surviving are two children, Larry E. (Katie) Steiner of Grand Rapids, Elizabeth A. Pisa of Bloomfield Hills, and a sister Vera Steiner of Vero Beach, FL He was preceded in death by a sister Evelyn Chaffee in 1990 and a brother Roy Steiner in 1923. A memorial service will be held in April in Bellaire and will be announced prior. Arrangements are being handled by the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
