Harry Vernon Hibbler Jr., 65, of Petoskey, passed away peacefully with loved ones around him on August 19, 2025.
2025. He was born on June 8, 1960, in Petoskey, the son of Harry and Lucia (Mills) Hibbler.
Harry graduated from Petoskey High School in 1979. He was the definition of a family man; he loved nothing more than spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family. His warmth and devotion left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Harry worked as a maintenance technician for the last 24 years at Independence Village, but his skills reached far beyond that role. Over the years, he also worked as a drywaller, plumbing/HVAC technician, carpet and flooring installer, and in landscaping and tree service. He took great pride in his work and found happiness nurturing flowers and the simple joy they brought.
In his free time, Harry loved camping—always keeping the fire burning—and enjoyed slow pitch softball, bowling, and hand-painting Christmas bulbs that he gave to friends and family. His creativity, humor, and generous spirit touched many lives, and he will be missed tremendously.
Harry is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his parents, Harry and Lucia Hibbler; his six children: Harry Hibbler III (Nikki) of Alanson, Billy Hibbler of Petoskey, Cory Hibbler of Petoskey, Jimmy Hibbler (Lindsay) of Mecosta, Joey Hibbler of Petoskey, and Mari Stewart (Sam) of Petoskey; and his step-daughter, Lisa Luebke (Randy) of East Jordan. He is also survived by his brother, Jeff Hibbler of Petoskey; his sisters, Sherry Hollerback of Alanson, Lisa Volkening (Ray) of Petoskey, and Becky Walker of Petoskey; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.
Harry will be remembered by his steady presence, kind heart, and the legacy of love and craftsmanship he shared with those around him.
No services are being held at this time.
In the words of Harry’s favorite song: “Always stay humble and kind.”
