Glorita Musilek

Glorita Musilek, 74, of Charlevoix, MI passed away peacefully Thursday, February 26, 2026 at her home.

Glorita was born on September 3, 1951 in Detroit, MI to Ruth and Francis Musilek. She attended Groves High School in Birmingham, MI before studying economics at St. Mary’s of Notre Dame.

Her high scholastic achievement was followed by a distinguished career in accounting with Universal Studios California and General Electric from where she retired.

In 2003, she moved to Charlevoix to be close to family. Here, she built a vibrant life making many friends who became her extended family. She was known in circles as a Mahjong master, a purveyor of fine food and wine, a performing arts enthusiast with special affection for the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra, and an adventurer. Glorita’s voyages included travel to destinations across Europe, South Africa, Egypt, and India. An avid reader and cinema enthusiast, she also actively supported several non-profits, including the Charlevoix Area Humane Society, the Charlevoix Area Community Pool, and public media.

While her interests were varied, her heart was in Charlevoix, where she spent the past 15 years with her beloved dog, Markee.

Glorita was preceded in death by her mother and father, and a sister, Annette. She is survived by her brother, Loren Musilek, sister-in-law Paula Musilek, nieces Jean Musilek (Mike Costa), Julie Joles (Jason Joles), great-nephew Camden Musilek, and great-nieces, River Pease, and Mailie and Harper Witthoeft. Her survivors also include a beloved network of friends including neighbor, Deborah Dirker, who took special care of Glorita as her health declined.

The family invites those who knew and loved Glorita to gather at a celebration of life to take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Grey Gables in Charlevoix.
