Gloria Jane Bloom 75 of Central Lake, died peacefully April 29, 2025, surrounded by her family after a brief illness. She was born March 21, 1950, in Goodrich, Michigan the daughter of Logan Jr. and Doris (Morse) McDowell.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Debbie (Wayne) Pardee, Vince Bloom, Matt (Lynne) Bloom, and Greg Bloom, all of Central Lake; and beloved grandchildren Wayne Pardee Jr, Brett Murray, and Matthew Bloom. She also leaves behind her sisters Cheryl Essenberg and Rita (Bob) Wilson; brothers Melvin McDowell and Mervin McDowell; brothers-in-laws Eugene (Cindy) Bloom, Gary Buffman, and Daniel Buffman; sisters-in-law Delores Bloom, Yvonne Jones, Yvette (Christopher) Egglin, Lanette Quatrochi, Yolanda (Garry) Ashby; along with many nieces and nephews.
Glo was preceded in death by her husband Victor Bloom, son Todd Bloom, her parents, mother and father-in-law Howard and Marcella Buffman, brother-in-law Lester Essenberg, sisters-in-law Diana McDowell, Sue McDowell, Diane Dawson, Janice Buffman, Judy Buffman, brothers-in-law Johnny Bloom and Luzon Bloom, nephews Tim Buffman, Erik and Derek Bloom, and Jeff Wilson.
Graduating from Ortonville High School in 1968, Glo made her way north in the early 70’s. Soon after, she met her future husband Victor Bloom, whom she shared 52 years of love and life with.
Glo had a deep love for her family and loved spending time with them. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandsons Matthew and Brett as well as her nieces and nephews. She was kind, caring, and had a very big heart, often giving to people in need and without other people knowing. She had an open door policy and welcomed kids and others to stay in her home as they needed.
Gardening, planting flowers, and knitting were a few of Glo’s hobbies as well as cooking and canning. She was an avid bowler for many years and enjoyed going on her bowling trips. She and Vic raised Flemish Giant Rabbits and showcased them at numerous state competitions across various locations, including New York, Kentucky, Wisconsin, and North Carolina for many years.
Her legacy includes the family business DeForest Bloom and Septic that she and Vic carried on for over 45 years together and now her sons have taken over in their memory.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 6, at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home.
