Glenn Ray Dockery, 90, of Mancelona, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the Eden Center in Kalkaska with his family at his side. He was born on April 2, 1935, in Polk County, TN, the son of William and Sarah (Lingerfelt) Dockery.
Glenn grew up in Tennessee but eventually made his way to Detroit to work as a machine operator for GM where he would retire from after 33 ½ years. In 1988, he and his wife, Helen, retired to Mancelona and they have called it home ever since. He was a lifelong member of the Moose Club, and he enjoyed his time spent shooting with the local archery club when they lived downstate. He also attended the Mancelona Baptist Church for many years until he was unable for health reasons.
Glenn loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed deer hunting, and going bank fishing, especially at the dam in Elk Rapids, and anything else that allowed him to be outside. He was also a skilled mechanic and could fix just about anything.
Glenn is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Helen Dockery; his son, Michael (Tony) Fobar-Dockery; and five grandchildren, Justin (Cariann) Dockery, Travis Dockery, Ricky Shoemaker, Jessica Dockery, and Mackenzie Fobar.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Susie, Berthie, May, and Margaret; and three brothers, Dillard, Marion, and Jim.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, at Fairview Cemetery in Mancelona. Following the service, all are invited to celebrate Glenn's life at The Clubhouse, 15 Rivers Edge Rd. NW, Kalkaska, MI 49646.
