Gertrude L. Brookins, 89, of Central Lake, passed away on January 25, 2020 surrounded by her family.

Gertrude was born on August 30, 1930, in Milton Township the daughter of Elston and Grace (Smith) Fullmer.

Gertrude loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  Her favorite time was having thanksgiving dinner when she was around the whole family.   She also enjoyed weeding her lawn, flowers, needlepoints, puzzles and traveling.

She is survived by 7 children, David (Kathy) Brookins of Ellsworth, Elston (Linda) Brookins of N.C., Nelson (Lorna) Brookins of Central Lake, Anna (Barry) Simonson of Central Lake, Sandra Brookins of Clinton Township, MI, Marsha (Thomas) Ferrell of Mesa, AZ, Philip (Tamyra) Brookins of Central Lake, 28 grandchildren, Many great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, a sister Barbara (Al) Nordquist of ID, 2 sisters-in-law, Joan Fullmer of NV, Jan Brookins of Onaway and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Brookins, a son Lewis Brookins, 2 grandsons, John Brookins, Tyler Czykoski, granddaughter Virginia Stanton, brother Leonard Fullmer, sister Grace Lucille Morris and her parents.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 30 from 4-7 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.

Funeral services will be on Friday, January 31 at 11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home.

She will be buried alongside her husband and son, at a later date, in Christian Memorial Cemetery in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
