George Glumb Jr., 87, of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, surrounded by the love and support of his friends and family. He was born on April 4, 1938, in Detroit, the son of George and Corrine (Piekarski) Glumb.
George grew up and attended Bently High School in Livonia, MI, where he met the love of his life, Diane Enderle. They married in 1961 and started a family living in Farmington Hills, MI, where George worked at Ford Motor Co. in Detroit, MI.
Both George as well as Diane’s parents vacationed and built homes on Elk Lake where they spent many summer vacations. Their love of the area prompted them to relocate to our beautiful town of Elk Rapids in 1972. George enjoyed traveling with his wife Diane by his side as an Industrial Tool & Die representative achieving salesman of the year.
George NEVER missed his children’s special school music or sports events with the joy of his life and wife, Diane. They both continued this attending and supporting their two grandson's sporting events. You rarely saw George without Diane by his side. They were inseparable over the course of their 64 years of marriage and enjoyed daily boating on Elk Lake or just sitting at the shore taking in the beauty of Spencer Creek on Elk Lake.
George loved spending time with friends and family at their home and was always ready to go on boat rides or have a great time.
George is survived by his daughter, Janet (Chris) Hubbell (Glumb); his sister, Elaine (Rick) Grennon (Glumb); his daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Hubbell (Knapp); two grandsons, Brandon Hubbell and Michael Hubbell; his precious great-grandchildren, Blake, Easton, Maggie, Quinn, Ashlynn & Jaxon; as well as many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Diane Glumb; his son, David Glumb; his parents, George and Corrine Glumb; and his brother Robert Glumb.
A burial at Maple Grove cemetery in Elk Rapids followed by a celebration of life will be held in the spring or summer.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in George's name to Elk-Skegemog Lakes Association, PO Box 8, Elk Rapids, MI 49629 (email: ElkSkegemogLakes@gmail.com)
