Gary D Greenman April 7 1940- January 3 2026
Gary was born to Bertha and Milan Greenman in Ellsworth, MI. He is survived by his sister, Kathleen, and brother, Kenneth. He was preceded in death by his sisters Eloise and Jo, and by his brothers, Milan and Chet.
Gary enlisted into the US Navy in 1958, with his friend, Norm Shaw. He spent time in Japan, Hong Kong, Hawaii, California, and Utah. He went to work at a canning company, where he met his wife of nearly thirty years, Connie Dewey. He and Connie had 5 children, Ellen, Stephanie (Bob Yothers), Todd (Rachel), Tim (Lisa), and Chad. Gary has 4 grandchildren, Morgan, Andrick, Calista, and Ashleigh, 2 great grandchildren, Vincent and Lane.
Gary liked to bake breads, an art handed down by his mom. He liked to build things, clearly handed down to him by his dad and father-in-law. He liked his cars, and was a long standing entry in Central Lake and other area parades. He made a litany of quilts for the elderly and young mothers. He collected coins, fished, played euchre, and spent time in the woods on his property, and others’. He attended Gaylord Evangelical Free church, where he loved and worshipped Jesus.
Funeral services with military honors will be held Saturday, January 10, at 1 p.m. at the Gaylord Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Scott Distler officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service. He will be laid to rest next to his brother Chet in the spring in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake.
