Emma Lee Ellison, 82, of Central Lake, died peacefully July 10, 2026, at home surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.
She was born December 26, 1943, in Ann Arbor, the daughter of Paul and Marion (Smith) Kleinschmidt.
After losing her mother at the young age of 16, Emma learned the importance of caring for others in thoughtful and meaningful ways. She became a wonderful cook, a gift she lovingly shared around the table with family and friends. Emma also found joy in quiet moments spent reading, tending her flower gardens, and watching the butterflies.
In her earlier years, Emma worked for the Washtenaw School District before moving north with her family. She later finished her career as a dedicated employee of Char-Em ISD before retiring.
On July 27, 1963, Emma married Gerald Dean Ellison, beginning a marriage filled with love, devotion, and 63 wonderful years together.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Gerald; daughter, Pam (Cyd Faul) Ellison of Bellaire; son, Kevin Ellison of Mancelona; brothers, Richard and Robert Kleinschmidt; and sisters, Sandy Drake and Ann (Gary) Lask.
She was preceded in death by her loving son, David, in 2015; her parents, Paul and Marion Kleinschmidt; and her stepmother, Elizabeth.
A visitation and time for sharing memories will be held Friday, July 17, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan, P.O. Box 206, Ellsworth, MI 49729, or the Antrim County Animal Shelter, 4660 M-88 Hwy., Bellaire, MI 49615.
Arrangements are in the care of the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign her online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com.
