Emily Stanek, born on December 6, 1943, in Durand, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home in East Jordan, Michigan, on July 5, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Emily spent much of her career in manufacturing, working at ITT, Hodgkins, and WRW. She was a graduate of Charlevoix High School and was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.
Family was of utmost importance to her, and she cherished every moment spent together during family dinners. Supper was something she always prioritized, often setting an extra plate for anyone who might stop by. Her welcoming nature was evident in her constant question, “Are you hungry?” which reflected the warmth she shared with family and friends.
She was a member of the Barnard Methodist Church and devoted time to volunteering with the Ladies Aid, further underscoring her commitment to helping others. Emily was known to be everybody’s rock. Her home had an open door policy, consistently ensuring that people felt welcomed and cared for.
In her leisure time, Emily enjoyed tending to her flower garden, canning, baking cookies, and attending numerous events for her grandchildren. She cherished camping with her husband Bob and the grandkids, loved going to garage sales, and made time for special moments with all her boys and girls.
Emily is survived by her daughters, Rose Kassuba, Becky Hinton, Donna Hinton, Kim Mellios, and Kristina (Gavin Fitzpatrick) Burks-Stanek. She is also survived by her brothers Gordon (Marsha) Himebauch, Nathan (Neva) Himebauch, Dan (Sarah) Himebauch, Jerry (Donna) Himebauch, and Dale (Joain) Himebauch, as well as her sister Sue (the late Norman) Starr and Sharon (Tim) Coen. She leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
Emily was preceded in death by her first husband, William Hinton, and her second husband, Robert Stanek. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Debbie Hinton.
A graveside service will be held at Barnard Cemetery in Charlevoix, Michigan, on July 15, 2025, starting at 2:00 PM. Emily’s legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support will continue to resonate through the lives she touched.
