Eloise Marie Klooster, 86, of Charlevoix, passed away March 1, 2020 at Grandvue Medical Care Facility.  Eloise was born April 12, 1933 in Muskegon Heights, MI to James Batchelder and Helen (Pederson) Batchelder.

Eloise was raised in Bellaire, MI, was crowned Miss Bellaire in 1950, and graduated from Bellaire High School in 1951.  On April 19, 1952 Eloise married Robert H. Klooster in Atwood, MI, and they were married for over 50 years before his passing in 2002.  She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a member of the Community Reformed Church in Charlevoix as well as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She also volunteered at the Rainbow Shop as well as the Charlevoix Elementary with the Star Reading Program.  She was known for her wonderful cooking and baking skills, and especially her cinnamon rolls.  Eloise was most passionate about her children and grandchildren, along with reading, sewing, knitting, embroidering, and singing.  She often was requested to sing at events such as weddings and funerals.

Surviving Eloise are four daughters, Roberta (Marrles) Moore of Denver, CO, Andrea (David) Eakes of Charlevoix, MI, Brenda (Michael) Washburne of Charlevoix, MI, and Melinda Klooster of Traverse City, MI, six grandchildren, Andrew Klooster, Samuel and Jameson Eakes, Blair and Morgan Moore, and Jack Lankford, as well as one great-granddaughter Payton.  Also surviving is her sister Audrey (John) Carlson of Muskegon, MI, and sister in-laws Esther Klooster of Cedar Springs, MI, Carolyn Klooster of Charlevoix, MI, and Jacqueline Klooster of Petoskey, MI, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.  Eloise was preceded in death by her husband Robert Klooster, parents James and Helen Batchelder, in-laws Conrad Sr. (Catherine) Klooster, two brothers Leslie (Maggie) Batchelder, Norman (Helen) Batchelder, one sister Shirley (Jess) Morton, three brothers in law Jim Klooster, Conrad Klooster, and Hank Klooster, as well as great-grandson Ethan Moore.

Funeral Services will take place Friday, March 6, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Community Reformed Church of Charlevoix, with Jan Boss officiating.  Visitation will take place Thursday, March 5, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Interment will take place at Atwood Cemetery.
