Elaine Drury

Elaine Carol Drury, 79, of Charlevoix, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at her home surrounded by family.  She was born on May 10, 1940 in Sycamore, IL, the daughter of Jon and Grace (Sundly) Nachtigall.

After her time attending the University of Illinois- Chicago, she worked as a dental hygienist in Sycamore, IL where she met a young man named Condit Drury.  The two of them wed on October 7, 1961 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore, IL.  They moved to Charlevoix 54 years ago, and raised their four children.  Elaine enjoyed reading, cooking, and going to lunch with her girlfriends, but most of all spending time with her granddaughters.  She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

Elaine is survived by her loving husband, Condit Drury; her four children, Jeff (Dr. Jody Jones) Drury of Northville, MI, Gary (Michelle) Drury of Bluffton, SC, Pam (Tom) Barnes of Charlevoix, and Dan (Kathy) Drury of Bluffton, SC; and her five grandchildren, Abigail Barnes, Alexandra Barnes, Julia Drury, Sarah Drury and Amanda Drury. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jon and Grace Nachtigall; and her brother, Bill Moen.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, December 21st from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, 209 State St., Charlevoix, MI 49720.
