Edna Fales

Edna Rodell Fales, 88, of Charlevoix, went home to be with her savior on Monday, February 12, 2024.  She was born on October 1, 1935, in Hazel Park, MI, the daughter of Thaddeus and Mildred (Moorman) Brown.

Edna moved to Charlevoix in 1969 where she would raise six children as a single mother.  She also worked at several local businesses over the years, including Lexalite, Big Rock nuclear plant, and the hospital in Petoskey.  She was also a member of the Charlevoix Church of the Nazarene since 1970, and remained heavily involved there until her health declined.  She taught Sunday School, helped organize luncheons, and had a gift for setting up all types of events at the church.  She had been an involved member on the Charlevoix Christmas Project for many years.  In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, and cooking for friends and family.   Some of her favorite moments were spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

On November 19, 1994, at the Charlevoix Church of God, Edna married Robert Fales, who survives.  Also surviving are five children, Deborah (Dennis) Harold, Kathy (Michael) Mychkovsky, Lee (Michelle) DeMitchell, Michael DeMitchell, and Ronald (Kathy) DeMitchell; son-in-law, Robert Tillen; five step-children, Deborah (Michael) DeGroot, Stephanie (Jeffrey) Mythysse, Kevin (Theresa) Fales, Joycelyn Fales, and Keith (Nicole) Fales; 33 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Terri Tillen; three brothers, Richard Brown, Loren Brown, and Leo Brown; and her sister, Mary Coon.

A funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the Charlevoix Church of the Nazarene, 12023 Waller Rd., Charlevoix, MI 49720.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services at 2:00.
