Doug Coutts

Douglas Stephen Coutts, 69, of Bellaire, Michigan, passed away at his home on October 15, 2025.

Affectionately known to his family as “Dougie”, he was born in 1956 to Robert and Sarah Coutts in Detroit, MI. The third of seven children, he spent most of his life in his beloved city of Detroit, However, later in life, Doug came to appreciate the peace, serenity, and laid-back nature of northern Michigan.

Doug was a gentle, unassuming man with a great sense of humor. He had an extremely generous spirit, and although he lived modestly, he always offered to pay for someone else’s meal or help out any way he could.

Doug had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back. His hobbies were antiquing, going to the casino, and he loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. His family and friends were very important to him. Doug, you will never be forgotten.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Sarah Coutts.

He is survived by his father, Robert Coutts; brothers Robert Coutts (Angie) and Thomas; sisters Patti Wagner (Brian), Karen Williams (Steve), Janet, Sherry Winstead (Mark), and 19 loving nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Doug’s life with his family and friends will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 8, in Detroit, Michigan.
