Donald Wells

Donald E. Wells, 82, of Charlevoix, passed away February 10, 2020 in Petoskey, MI.  Don was born January 4, 1938 in Charlevoix, MI to Wilbur Wells and Beatrice (Samuels) Wells.

Don graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1956 and resided in Charlevoix his whole life.  He worked at DME for 40 years.  Don enjoyed bowling, softball, golf, fishing, and animals.  On June 15, 1957 Don married Lura Wells.

Don provided his family with a secure, warm, and happy home.  Family was the most important dimension of his life.  He was hard-working and dependable, yet warm and fun-loving.  All were welcome at Don’s house, including generations of two kids, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and their friends.  He asked for nothing in return, but famously said “Don’t lie to me and I will always back you up.”

Following the death of his wife Lura, Don’s first and oldest grandchild Perry was his roommate and caregiver and affectionately called him “Pa.”  Surviving Don are children Don (Patricia) Wells and Julie (Gordon) Montie, both of Charlevoix, his beloved dog Reese, sisters Delores Hart and Marilyn (Bill) Pardee, as well as grandchildren Perry Matthew, Corey (Janinna) Wells, Tricia (Jay) Morford, Nolan Ager, Paige Ager, and Kaylee Wells.  Along with great-grandchildren Jaxin, Abby, Kennedy, Kacic, Zander, Jaelin, and Kyler.

Don is loved, remembered, and dearly missed by all who knew him.  No services are planned.
