Donald Clarence Olds, 90 of Central Lake passed away December 2, 2022 at home.  He was born April 21, 1932 in Alba, the son of Carl and Virginia “Virgie” (Shoup) Olds. 

   Don proudly served in the US Army and was honorably discharged.  He was a dedicated employee of Fisherbody in Lansing and retired after 32 years of service.  He moved north to Central Lake at age 51 to enjoy retirement.

   He loved his huge family and was always willing to help others.  A man of many qualities from raising a huge garden, hunting, fishing, cutting wood, helping repair cars, collecting lanterns along with collecting many treasures.  If you needed something he had it.  His passion was growing a huge garden, going to the casino and riding his tractor.  He enjoyed his two wonderful helpers Terry Scott and Adam Poel.  He truly appreciated their help and the friendship they had.  He was truly blessed.  He will be so missed and will always be in our hearts and precious memories.

   On April 30, 1993 in Jenison, he married Sonya Scott Olds who survives.  Also surviving are his children Jeff Olds, Tammy (Joe) Fischer, Maria Long, Eddie (Dianne) Palazzolo, Sue Palazzolo, grandchildren Joey (Rachel) Fischer, Robby Fischer, Jenny Olds, Matt Sexton, Kristie Sexton, Alysse Palazzolo, Katie (Brad) Gibbie, Tyler Palazzolo, Michael Palazzolo, Tommy Long, Anthony Long, great grandchildren Greysen Fischer, Cora Fischer, Tony Palazzolo, Eleanor Palazzolo, Reed Gibbie, William Gibbie, Andy Zeman, Brayden Perdue, Christina Zeman, brother-in-law Bill (Doris) Brown, Albert (Linda) Scott, sister-in-law Pauline Scott, and many nieces and nephews.

   He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Beverly Olds in 1985, son Donny Olds, daughter Judy Sexton-Buffman, grandson Joshua Olds, daughter in law Karen Olds, daughters Rosie and Gloria Palazzolo,  sons Tony and Mike Palazzolo, granddaughter Marie Palazzolo, brothers Lloyd and Clinton Olds, and twin sister Donna Koostra.

   Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 6th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 7th at 12 Noon at St. Luke Catholic Church with Fr. Chet Collins officiating and visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service.  Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to Huntington’s Disease, HDSA-Research, 505 Eighth Avenue, Suite 902, NY, NY 10018.
