Dixie Lee Cronin, age 93, passed away comfortably and peacefully July 20, 2022 in Traverse City, MI receiving compassionate, respectful and professional care from French Manor residence and Hospice of Michigan staff.  She was born in Saginaw, Michigan June 21, 1929 to the late Frederick and Mary Stevens (Etter) graduating from Saginaw Arthur Hill in June, 1947.  Dixie met her future husband, George at Central Michigan University and they were married February 5, 1949 at First Presbyterian Church in Saginaw, MI with a reception at the bride’s parents home. 

Dixie worked to support George as he finished his degree living in "Vetville" before moving to Saginaw where George began his career and they began their family.  Dixie received her Bachelors and Master’s degrees in Education from CMU and was employed as a special education teacher for 21 years retiring in August, 1988.  Building their retirement home in Elk Rapids she remained until 2018 moving to assisted care in Traverse City.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Elk Rapids and a longtime member of the bell choir at Christ The King Catholic Church. 

She joins her husband George (2013) in heaven above and is survived by her loving family; sons Clay Cronin, Kirk (Kathleen) Cronin, and Carey Cronin; grandchildren Tara (Correy) Collins, Daniel (Melissa) Cronin, Colleen Cronin, Kevin (Samantha) Cronin; great-grandchildren Eli and Adalyn Collins and Cecila Cronin; sister Mae Sue (Greg) Ibeas, and brothers Fred (Carole) Stevens, Eric (Sandy) Stevens. 

The family has arranged with Mortensen Funeral Homes a graveside celebration at Lakeview Cemetery on Torch Lake at 1:00pm Thursday, July 28,2022 requesting in lieu of flowers donations be considered for Hospice of Michigan, 989 Spaulding S.E., Ada, MI 49301.
