Deborah Jo Brandt

Deborah Jo Brandt, 64 of Alger passed away September 17. 2025, after a brief illness. She was born January 29, 1961, in Detroit the daughter of Richard and Elaine (Dawson ) Carlson.

Debbie was a dedicated employee of the US Postal Service, retiring after 30 years of service. She was active with dog shows and ran the table at the County Fair in Traverse City for many years. She was also very involved with the International Scout Rally’s held in Michigan and volunteered her time to them. Debbie was known to shine in all that she did. She loved dressing up for all occasions especially in elaborate costumes and sprinkled lots of glitter along the way (that is still being found in the car and under the cushions). Debbie also enjoyed traveling in the Upper Peninsula, and seeing the beauty of waterfalls.

Left to cherish her memory is her son Ken (Marie) Brandt, granddaughters Alexia and Maleah Brandt, partner Mark Burnett, brother Duane Carlson, sisters Dixie (Gary) Wurster, Dannette (Douglas) Woods, Dionna Carlson, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Ken, and her cherished daughter, Dannielle.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends from Noon until the time of service.
