Daniel Brian Rahilly, 82, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 9 at home with his loving wife and trusty hound, Moon Shadow, by his side.
   Daniel was born in Charlevoix, Michigan on January 11, 1941 as the only child of Dr. Daniel and Genevieve Rahilly of Mancelona.
On October 24, 1970, he married the love of his life, Sharon Kay (Woodbury) Rahilly. The two were married 53 joy filled years.
   Daniel was a 1959 graduate of Mancelona High School and attended college at the Soo. His summer job was with MDOT. After two years spent in Germany while enlisted with the Army, Daniel returned to work with MDOT until his retirement in 2002.
   Daniel was preceded in death by his mother, his father, and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda (Woodbury) and Andrew Maxon and his brother-in-law Joseph and Bonnie Woodbury. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, sister-in-law Vicki (Scott) Widener, six nieces and nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews, and 2 great-great nieces and nephews.
   Mortensen Funeral Home in Mancelona is handling his cremation. Daniel did not wish to have a funeral service. His ashes will be interred at Fairview Cemetery in Mancelona. Plans for a memorial celebration have not yet been made. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Daniel’s name to the charity of your choice.
