Craig Tompkins

Craig Eugene Tompkins, 68, of Petoskey, passed away on September 5, 2026. He was born on February 18, 1958, in Grand Rapids, the son of Marvin and Joan (Fettig) Tompkins.

Craig married the love of his life and had two wonderful daughters. He would say his life was changed Labor Day weekend 1990 and 2026. In 1990, he lost his precious baby girl Vanessa at 2 years old to a tragic death. Through this tragedy He came to know Jesus Christ His Lord and Savior and for the last 36 years everything has been changed! This Labor Day weekend 2026 he is holding her in his arms again.

Craig enjoyed the simple things in life and found great joy in spending time outdoors. He took pride in caring for his lawn and loved woodworking, creating things with his hands and taking satisfaction in a job well done. He also had a passion for barbecuing and enjoyed sharing good food with family and friends. He was a dedicated and hardworking man who took great pride in his work at Petoskey Plastics, where he was a valued and devoted employee.

His faith and church family were important parts of his life. Craig especially enjoyed volunteering with the children during Vacation Bible School (VBS), where his willingness to help and his caring nature made a difference in the lives of many young people. Craig was also a fan of NASCAR and auto racing. He enjoyed following the races and cheering on the excitement and competition of the sport. Craig will be remembered as a hardworking, caring, and dependable man who found happiness in his work, his hobbies, his faith, and the people around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
