Cheryl Windish

Cheryl Lynn Windish, 62, of Manistee, passed away on September 13, 2026. Cheryl was born on April 20, 1964, in Kalkaska, MI, the daughter of Gale and Lottie (Muma) McCaslin.

Cheryl was a tribal member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians from Manistee, MI. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, gardening, and cooking, often preparing meals for her friends in the tribal community that she cherished.  She also loved hummingbirds.  Throughout her life, she worked in housekeeping, manufacturing, home care, and landscaping.

Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Starr Jarrell; her grandchildren, David, Emma, Nadaya, and Areonya; and her great-grandchildren, Zaiden and Waylon. As well as her siblings, Lee (Nancy) McCaslin, Shirley Crane, David (Tracy) Crane, Sandra McCaslin, Jerry Atwood, Andy Atwood, Jimmy Atwood, Charles Crane, and Angel Crane Biggens, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lottie Muma McCaslin, her stepfather Gene McCaslin, her father Gale Lee Crane, and her sister Tresa McCaslin.

There will be a celebration of life and ceremonial fire beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Tribal Land in Manistee on September 26. It will take place in the community room in the Elders apartment building and will end when the fire burns out.  The family is asking for guests to bring a dish to pass.
