Cheryl Stahlberg

Cheryl Ann Stahlberg, 71, of Charlevoix, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026, at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on October 4, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Talmage Reece and Bennie Jean (Turner) Kemper.

Cheryl graduated from Walled Lake Central High School in 1972. Shortly after, she married Frank Cesaro and started a family in Union Lake, Michigan, where they resided for many years.

In 1980, she moved to Stuart, Florida. There, she married George Stahlberg, and together they opened a paint store, Distinctive Decorating. For many years, she split her time between Florida and Michigan. In 2017, she retired to Charlevoix to be closer to family.

Cheryl loved spending time with her family more than anything else. She enjoyed cooking and hosting get-togethers for those she loved and could often be found watching the Food Network or classic movies. She loved shopping whenever she had the chance and spent much of her time playing bingo and cribbage with friends. Cheryl attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Charlevoix.

Cheryl is survived by her three children: Danielle (Mark) Miller of Commerce Township; Frank (Linda) Cesaro of Elmira; and Jason Cesaro of Charlevoix. She is also survived by her stepchildren: Anthony Cesaro of Charlevoix; George Matthew Stahlberg (Charlotte) of Fort Pierce, Florida; Jenny (Chris) Phillips of Stuart, Florida; and Joy (Joe) DiGiacomo of Palm City, Florida; her sister, Patsy Myers of Noblesville, Indiana; her brother-in-law, Bernard Render of Commerce; nine grandchildren: Christopher Furlong, Hope Miller, Amanda Cesaro, Cody Cesaro (Danielle Whitaker), Abby Cesaro, Adikin Cesaro, Aadyn Cesaro, Caramia Cesaro, and Carter Cesaro; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband and father of her children, Frank Cesaro; her second husband, George Stahlberg; her brother, Doug Kemper; and her sister, Gloria Render.

Cheryl's family will celebrate her life at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, February 21, at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow at The Irene, located at 104 State Street in Charlevoix, from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. A private burial will be held by the family in the spring.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign her online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
