Celeste Theresa Perron, 71, of Charlevoix, Michigan passed away peacefully on April 6 2026, lovingly attended by her children. It was “Monday of the Angel”, the holy day following Easter.
Celeste was born to Francis and Marcella Murdick in Charlevoix, MI on July 31, 1954. Her folks moved the family to Detroit, where they lived until Celeste was 10, when they came back home to Charlevoix. Celeste attended St. Mary School and Charlevoix High School, and graduated in 1972.
Celeste married the love of her life, Leon Perron, also of Charlevoix in 1976, while Leon was stationed at Fort Hood, in Killeen, Texas. There they started their family with baby Nichelle. After Leon’s discharge from the Army in 1978, they moved back to Charlevoix where they made their home and welcomed their “Beautiful Boy,” Simeon.
Celeste was devoted to her husband, her children, and her granddaughter, Josephine, her “little Josie girl”. On most Sundays, Celeste could be found in her kitchen, cooking, singing, and serving another wonderful meal for her entire family.
She worked for Lexalite International, (A.L.P.) for over 40 years, retiring in 2021. In addition to her “day job”, Celeste, with Leon, established Celeste Murdicks Fudge in 2000, continuing her family’s famous fudge legacy.
Known for her big, generous heart and infectious laugh, Celeste was beloved by many-to know her was to love her. Put simply, she was a wonderful human.
Celeste was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Marcella, husband Leon, as well as her siblings, Joseph and Kathleen, and niece Kristi Brewer.
She is survived by her children, Nichelle (Carey) Ciesielczyk of Charlevoix, and Simeon Perron of Charlevoix, her brothers and sisters - John (Marcy) Murdick of Cheboygan, MI, Karen Ann Murdick of Jackson, MI, Jerry (Carol) Murdick of Charlevoix, Julie Murdick of Charlevoix, and Rebecca Murdick of Bonita Springs, Fl and Charlevoix, MI - and granddaughter Josephine Ciesielczyk. Celeste also leaves behind her cousins Dianne and Debbie, 6 nieces and nephews, 8 great nieces and nephews, and countless friends, including Rachael Zlotow and Karen Stolpman.
To honor Celeste’s life, a funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Church in Charlevoix on April 25, at 12 noon, with visitation beginning at 11. A luncheon will immediately follow at the church. The funeral will be livestreamed at stmarycharlevoix.com
