Carol Ceran

Carol Ann Ceran, 82, of Charlevoix, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2022, at the Hiland Cottage Hospice House in Petoskey.  Carol was born on October 29, 1939, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Thomas and Helen Clark.

At the age of 19, Carol married her late husband, Thomas, and they began a wonderful life together which included many adventures on land and on the water.  Boating held a very special place in Carol’s heart as she and Tom spent many days and nights on their various sailboats that they owned over the years.  If Carol wasn’t boating you could find her either in her beautiful gardens “digging in the dirt,” walking miles and miles around her beloved hometown of Charlevoix with her Fitbit tracking her every footstep, curled up in her favorite chair reading her latest book, or spending time with her 6 granddaughters, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her two daughters, LeAnn Ceran (the late Robert Carter), and Linda (John) Prescott; six granddaughters, Lindsey (Marcus) Burton, Cassie (Brian) Conley, Katie (Darren) Andrews, Sarah (Ty) Schaef, Megan (Marcel Gensler) Cross, Madison Prescott; 11 great-grandchildren, Noah, Mali, Ellie and Ezra Burton, Emmry and Lincoln Conley, Zane and Jace Andrews, Millie and Maddox Schaef, and Lilly Gensler; brother, Thomas (Jan) Clark.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Tom.

The family would like to thank all the nurses, aides, and staff at both the Grayling Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the Hiland Cottage for the excellent care and compassion that Carol received.

Carol was a gentle soul who always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone she met.  This world is truly a better place for having had Carol in it.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022, from 1:00-3:00 pm in Community Room B at the Charlevoix Public Library.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Charlevoix Area Humane Society, 614 Beardsley St., Boyne City, MI  49712, or the Charlevoix Public Library, 220 W. Clinton St., Charlevoix, MI 49720.

Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Please sign her online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
