Carl Price

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Carl Richard Price at the age of 86. He passed away in his home in Charlevoix, MI, surrounded by his devoted and loving wife and family on April 4, 2024. Carl was born on June 25, 1937, in Bay Shore, MI, to his parents William and Thelma (Trautman) Price. He was the seventh of nine children and spent his childhood on the family farm in Bay Shore. After graduating from Petoskey High School in 1955, Carl joined the Army and was stationed in Germany, serving until 1958.

On October 7, 1961, he married Judith Lynn Jepsen at the St. Francis Church of Petoskey. They initially lived in Petoskey for six months before settling on their farm on Pincherry Road.

Carl owned and operated his Construction company for over 40 years, leaving a lasting impact on the industry. He also dedicated his time to serving the community in various roles. Carl volunteered for the Charlevoix Township Fire Department, was a 4-H leader for the Hayes Township Bay Shore community, served as a Building Trades instructor for Charlevoix High School, and acted as a County Commissioner for the people of Charlevoix County. His contributions to the community were highly regarded, and he played a significant role in its development.

Although he never really retired, Carl continued with small jobs and home caretaking services and enjoyed working with his sons and grandsons on building projects in the Charlevoix area.  Carl had a collection of tractors that he enjoyed maintaining and displaying every summer.  The tractors could be seen from Pincherry Road in the front yard of the Price family home.  Every holiday Carl would setup a light display on his barn for all to see from the highway and Pincherry Road.  

Carl was proceeded in death by his parents, sisters Marylou, Alice, Peggy, and Linda, and brothers Bill, Jerry, and Tony, as well as his son Carl Jr.

He is survived by his wife Judy, sister Marie, and sons Mark, Scott (Kristen), Randy (Stacey), and Brent; grandchildren Jillian, Robert ( Beki), Arlena, Ashley (Kevin), Carley, Matt, Jason, Kristina, Madison (Samarah), and Camden (Megan), as well as his great-grandchildren Emma, Addison, Claire, James, Chelsea, Blake, Savannah, Maliah, Kyver, Skylar, Julien, and Jameson.

No public services are scheduled, and the family requests that friends and acquaintances celebrate Carl's life, friendship, and service to the community by remembering the impact he had on their lives. If desired, monetary donations can be directed towards Veterans associations or a preferred charity.
