Brian Lee Martinchek, 65, of Charlevoix, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Boulder Park Terrace in Charlevoix. He was born on November 1, 1960, in Charlevoix, the son of Joseph and Betty (James) Martinchek.
Brian grew up working on the family farm – Martinchek Farms – in Charlevoix and after graduating from Charlevoix High School, he continued to make the farm his top priority. He took care of the dairy cows and hogs, worked the fields, oversaw the grain drying, and did anything else it took to keep the farm going. He also worked as a chef for many years at Grey Gables in Charlevoix. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed watching sports on TV, typically cheering for any team from Michigan. He was an easy-going guy who enjoyed the simple things in life and took great pride in his work. Brian was also a long-time member of the Ellsworth Wesleyan Church.
Brian is survived by his daughter, MiKayla Martinchek of Charlevoix; his three siblings, Debra Martinchek, David (Kathryn) Martinchek, and Brenda (John) Morgan, all of Charlevoix; three aunts, Harriet Hilden of East Jordan, Myra Hoffman of Ellsworth, Marilyn Brown of East Jordan; his uncle, Bill (Mary) James of Charlevoix; a niece, Amy Wolfgang; and a nephew, Joey Palmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his niece, Angela Martinchek; and several aunts and uncles.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Ellsworth Wesleyan Church with Pastor Chris Wallace officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ellsworth Wesleyan Church.
Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign his online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
