Betty Arlene Blissett, 88 of Charlevoix, died June 21, 2020 at Boulder Park Terrace in Charlevoix.  She was born May 31, 1932 in Boyne City the daughter of Earl and Edna (Crooks) Barkley.  Betty married Bill Blissett on January 21, 1961 and they were married for 26 years before his death.

Betty was a kind, compassionate mother, grandmother and friend.  She worked at Dr. Rick’s Chiropractic office for many years and was a nurse’s aide at Grandvue Medical Care Facility.  She volunteered her time at the Charlevoix Area Hospital and with the local Girl Scout Troops.  Betty loved to spend time with her family, especially cooking for them around the holidays.

Left to cherish her memory her son Terry (Arlene) Blissett and their children Tricia (Tim)  Petrosky, Travis Blissett, Becky (Patrick) Mallon; and her daughter Kathryn (David) Plumm and their son Forrest (Rene) Plumm; her grandchildren Jacob, Lizzie, and Taylor Petrosky, and Kendall, Ryan, and Avery Mallon.  Also surviving are her brother Alvin (Lois) Barkley, nieces Nancy Wynn, Judy (Chris) Armstrong, and Mary Westbrook.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her sisters Bertha (Clare) Brown, Marion (William) Westbrook and her mother in law Marie Blissett.

Private family services will be held and she will be laid to rest next to her husband in Brookside Cemetery, Charlevoix.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be directed to St. Mary Catholic School, 1005 Bridge St., Charlevoix, MI 49720.
