Barry Wayne Wood, 87, of Charlevoix, passed away February 26, 2020 in Traverse City, MI.  Barry was born March 30, 1932 in Ferndale, MI to Harry C. Wood and Grace (Thompson) Wood.

Barry worked as a contractor in construction, as well as serving his community of Charlevoix in many ways once he and his wife moved up north permanently in 1954, as a volunteer Firefighter and ambulance driver, auxiliary Police Officer for the city of Charlevoix, and as an Eveline township zoning administrator for many years.  He was also a past member of the Masons.  Barry enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and being active in the outdoors.

On April 9, 1950 in Southfield, MI he married Patricia A. (Robbins) Wood who survives, also surviving him are four children, Teri Wood-Slaughter of Utah, Del (Cindy) Wood of Morrice, MI, Shelly Wood (Ed Engstrom) of Atwood, MI, Leslie (Paul) Fabiano of Torch Lake, MI and son-in-law Dan Rogers of Gowen, MI, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry C. Wood and Grace Wood, daughter Cathy Rogers, two brothers Ralph (Genevieve/Jo) Wood, Ray (Nancy) Wood, and two sisters Muriel (Louis) Kellogg and Lucille (Ben) Rexin.

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Sarah Goldberg officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of services on Saturday.

Burial will be private at a later date in the Eveline Township Cemetery.
