Barbara Pluister

Barbara J. Pluister, 62, of Charlevoix, died peacefully while surrounded by her husband, family, and sweet friends at Bay Bluffs in Harbor Springs. Barbara resided in Bayshore Michigan with her husband Tom. 

Barbara received her RN from North Central Michigan College in Petoskey and her BSN from the University of Michigan. Barbara leaves an enormous legacy in her community, notably through her career as a nurse at Charlevoix Area Hospital, a clinical instructor at North Central Michigan College, and a hospice nurse. 

She adored her daughters and her sons and grandchildren. She loved her husband. Her laugh was strong. Her commitment to Nursing was immeasurable. Her struggle with Parkinson’s disease was heartbreaking. Her death to cancer was merciful.

For the last few years, she’s been surrounded by her peers, former students, associates, classmates, and close friends. Her family is forever grateful for their professionalism and compassion. 

Daughter to Vern Erickson, (Gwen White – Erickson) and Beverly Clark (Chuck).  Sister of Betty Adema (Don), Lee Chapaw (Deb), and Theresa Graham (Brendan).  Wife of Thomas R. Pluister.  Beloved Mother to Jason Z Murray, Brianne E Murray, Thomas R Pluister II, and Lindsay M Pluister.  Grandmother to Mel Horniman, and Bailey Matuszczak.  Aunt to Nicole Turner (Daniel) and Ian Adema.  Niece and Cousin to many and a friend to most

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16 at 1 PM in the Charlevoix Chapel at Mortensen Funeral Home 209 State St., Charlevoix, MI 

Barbara and Thomas’ FAMILY are invited to a PRIVATE visitation this Friday, March 15 between 4 and 7:30 PM at the Mortensen Funeral Home.

A post-service gathering will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Community Center, 326. N. Park St., Boyne City, MI 49712.
