Audrey M. Lehman

Audrey Lehman, age 94, passed away peacefully with family by her side, on May 16, 2025, in Petoskey, Michigan. Audrey is the daughter of George and Marie (Decker) LaBarre. She was born in Detroit, Michigan. Audrey graduated from Melvindale High school in 1948, and nursing school in 1951. She spent most of her nursing career at Charlevoix Area Hospital, where she retired as the Operating Room Supervisor in 1992.

Audrey married Robert Egler in 1952 and was blessed with 7 children. Robert passed away in 1976. Audrey found love again when she met Charles Lehman, they married in 1982. Charles passed away in 2002.

Audrey was a woman of strong faith. She was a dedicated servant of the Lord. Audrey was a caregiver, she cared for her family, her patients and even other residents at her assisted living facility. Audrey had an adventurous spirit. She loved traveling, bowling, knitting and crocheting. Audrey made and donated over 100 blankets to Project Linus and made many blankets and afghans for family and friends. She was famous for her handmade potholders! Audrey also loved bird watching and flowers.

Audrey is survived by her children, Kathy Lester, Scott Egler (Lynn), Beth Egler, Patricia LaBarre, Mary Young (Dave), Thomas Egler (Terri) as well as 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Audrey is predeceased in death by her daughter Janice Massey (Robert).

“Be happy for me because I have fulfilled my time here on earth and have joined my maker in Heaven for all eternity! See you there!”

Visitation for Audrey will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, 209 State Street, Charlevoix, MI 49720. Services for Audrey will be held at 12:00 pm at Mortensen Funeral Home presided by Pastor Roger Riedel of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Audrey’s church home.
