Alice Seaman

Alice Elaine Seaman left us to journey to her Lord on January 28, 2024.  She was born on August 2, 1934, to William and Minnie Coger on their farm in Antrim County, the last of ten children who have all preceded her on this journey.

She attended the Mancelona Schools where she met her high school sweetheart, Alfred Seaman.  They married on June 14, 1951, and moved to Columbus, Ohio where he was employed.

In 1959 they and their two children moved to Chicago where he worked for a telecommunications company and Alice was employed as a maker of small handmade items for home use.   She never quit her job as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, who never forgot a birthday.  With their children all married and gone from the nest, they retired in 1983 and traveled the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.

In 1990 they moved back to Al’s boyhood home in Alden where they still have a home, but for years, they travelled to Arizona to winter.

She leaves behind her husband of 72 years; a daughter, Joy (Jay) Hoover of Dallas-Fort Worth; a son, Daniel Seaman of Raleigh-Durham; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many friends and relatives who will never forget her.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, May 20, at 11 a.m. the Alden United Methodist Church with a luncheon to follow. Alice will be laid to rest in Helena Township Cemetery.

Arrangements are in the care of the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Please sign her online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
