Adam Patrick-Kinery Lockwood
Dec. 13, 1987 - Sept. 6, 2023
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our Beloved Son, Brother,
Husband, Grandson, Nephew, Cousin, and Friend, Adam P. Lockwood, 35.
On Wednesday, September 6, 2023, God took Adam to his eternal home,
blessing him with peace & joy beyond our understanding.
Though we are left behind to navigate through our remaining days with all
the emotions such Loss envelops, we are comforted knowing Adam is now
free from the struggle and pain which tormented him for so, very long.
As an accomplished musician/composer, Adam impressed us with his
song & poetry. He was gifted with the ability to express his emotions
through the articulation of word paired with the perfect note.
As a child, Adam filled his days playing outside. He loved being in nature
& the elements, building forts in the woods and sleeping under the stars.
He loved catching critters like snakes and frogs. We had to set a “3-day”
rule for how long our children were allowed to keep the turtles they caught
before returning them to the lake. The giant snappers had an “immediate
release after a quick snapshot!” rule. Adoption of all the Family Dogs was
prompted by Adam, as well as his duckling, “June” which he purchased
from a roadside store near Houghton Lake. Eventually, we gave June to a
lovely farm in Interlochen.
We kept our children busy playing (as a family) waterskiing, wake
boarding/surfing, and sailing during early spring, well into fall. Winters, we
all stayed quite busy with Alpine skiing and snowboarding. We made sure
both our children were apt in several athletic disciplines.
Always on the move (keeping us on our toes), Adam explored the
unknown with an endless curiosity. His hands were constantly busy
tinkering with toys, pushing buttons on calculators, dissecting electronics,
and clanking on our old upright piano. Christmas of his 6th year, Adam’s
Dad gifted him with a used, wood-veneered Ludwig Drum Kit. Thenceforth,
he developed the mastery of music, eventually adding string and keyboard
instruments to his percussion.
A few years after graduating from TC Central High, Adam met and married
his Sweet Veronica. The newlyweds moved to Arizona, where Adam
continued his studies of music, earning a degree in Audio Technology
Engineering from The Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences in
Tempe, AZ. At this time, Adam played drums for a band named Against
The Natural.
In pursuit of career opportunities for both Adam & Veronica, the couple
moved to the Northwest Coast, where Adam wrote and recorded music for
himself and others. On the side, Adam played drums for a variety of local
bands including, The Negative Creeps of Eugene (a Nirvana tribute band).
Adam continued to enjoy the outdoors with Veronica. Living in areas
surrounded by miraculous beauty, the two enjoyed hiking, biking, and
camping together, as well as world travel. In recent years, Adam could be
found riding his snowboard on the slopes of Mount Hood Meadows, OR.
To those of us who truly know and love him, Adam will be remembered as
a Brilliantly Talented, Beautiful Young Man. He was passionately sincere
and intolerant of superficiality. He had the soul of an Artist. For hours,
Adam enjoyed indulging in lengthy philosophical conversation and
collaboration of artistic ideas. An avid reader, Adam became a self-proclaimed
expert on a variety of subjects.
With a unique knack for humorous impressions, antics, and “South Park”
voice mimicking, Adam was able to get his audience crying with laughter.
He was captivating with his charm and way with words.
Alas, Adam’s Love for his wife and family ran so deep and intensely, he
tended to keep us at arm’s length, eventually pushing us away altogether,
in order to spare us from feeling his pain. He NEVER wanted to hurt us…
or any other. He tried to distract himself from the inner-anguish by helping
others he knew suffered. His heart was filled with mercy and compassion.
His mind was filled with hopes of relief from his inner torment, in order to be
reunited with those he loved, and once again, continue to fulfill his Godgiven
potential.
“I no longer have anxiety. I am a warrior and I am capable of all things
through God”

In closing, we feel compelled to express the following message from our
family to All…
Please, put aside any and all reasoning and excuses for hesitating to
reach out to those you know are struggling with Addiction and/or Mental
Illness. (I recently heard someone describe self-isolation as self-inflicted
solitary confinement…A type of punishment and torture.) Though you may
not completely understand what they’re going through, it can only do good
to let them know, they are not alone, you’re there for them, and you love
them. Keep trying, who knows…you could save a life.
Thank You Dear Heavenly Father for Blessing us with Adam. Thank You
for rescuing him from the ominous storm that engulfed his soul. Amen
Until we meet again, our Beautiful Boy…Always & Forever…We Love &
Miss You.
